In 2016 we lost everything.
An un-named tropical depression overwhelmed the state of Louisiana with non-stop rains that resulted in unprecedented flooding. The record books will show that this meteorlogical abnormallity was completely unforseeable.
Up until that point my wife and I were “normal”. We had Credit Cards, Auto Loans, Student Loans, and were living our lives in a way that likely made our social media followers jealous.
We were “normal”.
It just turns out “normal” these days
is synonymous with “broke”.
I had grown up in a family that went bankrupt when I was just a little into middle school. My parents had faced layoffs followed by unpredictible medical emergencies that left them strapt. Right up until then my parents, well, they were normal too… So when the bills stacked high and the income took a dip, they were forced to make decisions they never thought they’d have to make.
After spending 20-something years being “Normal” I decided that the best choice for my wife, myself, and our little one, would be for us to change. We needed to live differently, and start making financial decisions that could sometimes be uncomfortable. Decisions that would be more rewarding in the long-run. You see, wise decisions when it comes to money are not made in the blink of an eye, at the request of a salesperson, or in the heat of the moment. No, they are made in the multitude of counsel.
In our time of need we had no one to answer our difficult financial questions. Let me be that person for you.
So that is who we are… your counsel, your advisory board, your person you can call when you just want to know if you are making the right decisions with your money.
